Our world has seen great heroes, the people who have inspired us by their work and have brought about tremendous change on how the world around us works. Some of these heroes can be referred to as Mahatma Gandhiji to Nelson Mandela, even Adolf Hitler and to every soldier who is protecting his country land.
But by this many of us mistakenly take heroism as only doing an act of bravery and to do something challenging, which is not an apt way to describe the act of heroism. A hero can be any person who does something for someone, even if that someone is he himself.
If we see by taking some of the live examples from around or lives, you will see how everyone is a hero in whatever work the person is doing:
- It may be a person who helps a blind or an old person to cross a road when the person is in need of it;
- It may be a person who simply chooses to throw garbage into a dustbin rather than throwing it on the road and littering our environment;
- It may be a person who climbs into an overly packed local train in Mumbai every morning to reach his office place, to earn a better Living for his family;
- Or a person who opts to stop at a traffic signal rather than jump it even when there is no traffic cop around;
- Even a person who gets into a sewage manhole to clean the waste generated by the society to keep them from being a breeding ground for diseases;
When you look at the given cases, there is a hero in every person doing any of his ordinary or an extra ordinary act throughout his day span, whether it be when a person is a hero in the eyes of a person whom you help, or you keep your society clean and be an inspiration to our society, or is a hero when he takes hardships to earn for his family or the person who cleans sewage as his daily chores as a part of his job.
Heroism is not in the act that you choose to perform or in the mere decisions that you take, it is a feeling that comes to someone from within himself. Heroism is the feeling of joy, the feeling of feeling good about yourself, heroism is how you look towards your problem and you handle them. Heroism is about your perception towards yourself and your attitude towards the various situations that you go through in your entire lifespan.
There is a hero in each and every one of us, what is required of us is to bring that up and realize about it. Take pride in whatever you do, no matter if it is a small work or big, it affects few or many, The work you do may be for your own satisfaction or greater good of society or for that sake any other entity; it will be your attitude towards it that will be responsible for that view.
A person name Dashrat Manjhi from Bihar, India carved out a mountain once he decided to do it; it took him 22 years to do it, but he did it. Just remember you can do anything that you take up because everything is possible, all it requires is a person to take it up.
"We are all ordinary. We are all boring. We are all spectacular. We are all shy. We are all bold. We are all heroes. We are all helpless. It just depends on the day"
